Found on YouTube -an interesting view of "The Librarian"

I rather liked this official US 'call-to-arms' from the 1950's to recruit new librarians. It is fairly long, at just over 10 minutes, but its a bit of a gem. Although its very dated, there are some things that still ring true for libraries and librarians today. I especially liked the query at the start, 'are books your friends'? I guess in the context of today's libraries and the 23 Things, we're more likely to ask 'is [Google]* your friend?'

The funny thing is that some people think librarians still look like that!

Love the bit about new technology. Phonograph records...ahhh, those were the days... Was really hoping that there would actually be a "blue" section for that television book. Foiled again.

What a classic. It was reassuring later on to know that you did need a qualification, not just a love of books and people.
